PM Modi slams Sam Pitroda ‘inheritance tax’ comments using LIC tag line Jibe: WATCH

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday criticized Congress over Sam Pitroda for his comment on ‘50% inheritance tax’. He also said that the Congress manifesto gave the impression of the All India Muslim League. Prime Minister Modi borrowed the slogan of the Life Insurance Corporation to take a dig at the Grand Old Party and said, “An advisor to the royal family has said that the middle class should pay more taxes. Now Congress wants to impose an estate tax. means Congress’s spoils would continue’zindagi ke saath bhi, zindagi ke baad bhi (with you in life, with you in the hereafter).” He was speaking at a public election rally in Chhattisgarh’s Surguja.

“Until the day you live, Congress would continue to increase the tax burden on you. Even if you are no longer alive, it would impose the burden of estate taxes,” he said.

Chairman of the Indian Overseas Congress Sam Pitroda came under fire on Wednesday for allegedly supporting an inheritance tax law. Pitroda later qualified that his comments were only “an example.” Congress quickly distanced itself from Pitroda’s statements, calling them his “personal opinion.”

Prime Minister Modi said Babasaheb Ambedkar envisioned that reservations would never be made on religious grounds. “But a vote-hungry Congress introduced a policy of introducing reservations on the basis of religion. It tried to introduce a religion-based reservation policy in Andhra Pradesh and the rest of the country. This religious quota would be subtracted from the population share. the SC/ST and OBC communities,” he said. Prime Minister Modi claimed that Congress in its 2009 and 2014 manifestos said that it will not abandon the issue of religion-based reservations.

PM Modi brings back ‘X-Ray’ claim

Prime Minister Modi said, “The Congress-led government of Karnataka has put all Muslims in the OBC quota. This has taken away the benefits of social justice policies from the backward classes. Congress wants to amend the Constitution and take away the benefits of SC/ST and OBCs. to benefit his vote bank… Now only the BJP can protect your rights.”

He said Congress is also monitoring people’s income and property. Prime Minister Modi took a jibe at Rahul Gandhi and said, “The shehzada of Congress says your properties and homes will be x-rayed. Congress wants to redistribute your wealth to others.” However, he stopped short of mentioning the Muslim community in this context, as he had done during his public meetings earlier this week. He said: ‘You know to whom your wealth will be redistributed. Do I have to explain? Should we let them commit this sin?”

Prime Minister Modi also said in Naxalism-hit Chhattisgarh that Congress was promoting Naxalism and terrorism and destroying India. “Congress supports those who spread terrorism… Those who attack police and security forces are labeled as ‘martyrs’. Their leaders shed tears on the death of terrorists,” PM Modi said.
