Motorola EX115

Motorola EX115

This is Motorola’s second dual-SIM phone to be made available in India, and just like the EX128, it supports two GSM cards at a time. But unlike the EX128 – which was an ultra-cheap touchscreen handset – the EX115 is all about chatting, SMSing and social networking through your phone’s QWERTY keypad.

Social connectivity is the focus of this phone, which promises to let you share all your thoughts through embedded links Gmail, Facebook, MySpace and Youtube. Although the press release doesn’t talk about Twitter support, it would be surprising if there wasn’t an option for it.

The phone sports a 2.3-inch screen that displays 256K colours at a resolution of 240x320 pixels. There’s 50MB of onboard memory, but you can always expand this by throwing in a microSD card of up to 32GB.

And you will probably need it too, considering that the device is no slouch in the multimedia department. There’s a 3.5mm headphone jack for standard headsets, and support for MP3, AAC, H.263 and MP4 audio and video formats. What’s more, the 3-megapixel camera on the back should be good for taking a few shots and perhaps even record some video footage.

There’s no 3G, Wi-Fi or GPS on offer here, but that’s to be expected with a low-cost dual-SIM phone. What’s really disappointing, though, is the battery life. Motorola claims only three hours of continuous talk-time and 240 hours of standby time, which is really low by most modern standards – especially from phones by reputed international brands.

The Motorola EX115 is now available in stores for Rs. 4,990.
