Chum Chum | Cham Cham | Bengali Sweet

Are you searching for paneer sweet dishes in bengali style?Make sure to read this chum chum | cham cham article.Here we are going to discuss about all types of chum chum.

Now lets gets started.Mostly all dishes in North India are made of panner and milk.In the previous 2 article we discussed about rasgulla and rasmalai.

While surfing through net I found out many variations for same dish.That’s why I want to share these in a single piece.

Different types of Chum chum are

Plain — similar to rasgulla only shape differs.
Malai chum — similar to rasmalai but shapes differs.
Coconut — same plain but it is rolled over desicated coconut.
Filling — Khoya is filled between the chum chum.This of 2 types one is sweet and other is sweetless.
Colored Plain — Just color essence is added to panner.
Colored filling — Just color is added to khoya filling.
Fruit Flavor Plain- Fruit essence is added to panner.
Fruit Flavor Filling -Fruit essence is added to khoya.

Lets dive into the topic of chum chum | cham cham.Name is based on each persons accent and origin.This might be a lengthy article.

Chum Chum | Cham Cham

1. Plain Chum chum

Chum Chum

1 cup Panner1 cup Sugar3 cups Water

First take the paneer and mash well to form dough.

If needed add some drops of milk.

Now make a small balls of panner.

Then make it oval using hand.

At the same time,add sugar and water to form sugar syrup.

While syrup is boiling,add these chum chum in it.

Make sure to leave space for each to move around the syrup.So that each wont get dodge against each other.

Now cook for 5 to 7 mins and then open the lid.

See whether the size of it is doubled or not.If doubled it is perfect.

Do this repeatedly for remaining chum chum.

Finally plain chum chum is ready to taste.

2.Malai Cham cham

Same procedure for plain chum chum is followed here.After that in a pan add 1 cup of milk and wait unitl it is reduced to half of it quantity.Then add a pinch of saffron if needed for color.Add 1/4 cup of sugar or small tin of milk maid to it.Wait until both sweetness and milk gets mixed.After that drain the chum chum from sugar syrup and add it in this milk syrup.Finally malai cham cham is ready to taste.

3.Coconut Cham Cham

Do the steps followed in plain.Then add grated coconut in mixer along with some sugar and grind well.Or you can use pack of coconut powder.After that drain the cham cham from syrup.Now roll the cham cham in this coconut.Finally coconut cham cham is ready to taste.

3.Khoya Filling

Do the same steps of plain dish.

For Sweet Khoya:In a pan add 1 cup of milk and then add some sugar or milkmaid in it.Then wait until it is reduced to khoya consistency.Keep stirring so that it wont get burnt.Finally sweet khoya is ready.For Sweetless Khoya:In a pan add 1 cup of milk.Wait until is reduced to form khoya consistecy.Finally sweetless khoya is ready.How to fill in chum chum:Now drain the chum chum from syrup.Then take a knife and make a slit in the centre of cham cham.Now add this filling in betweent it.Finally khoya filled chum chum is ready.

5.Colored chum chum

For this color in chum chum pick a color as either pink or yellow or orange.Now while preparing paneer add this color.While the milk is boiling add this color drops in it.Then add lemon to get panner.This will make the color spread in all over the paneer.Then repeat the same steps followed in plain chum chum.Finally colored chum chum is ready.

6.Colored Filling Chum chum

Decide whether sweet khoya or sweetless.Then choose the color of khoya.For this, while boiling the milk add the color of it.Then after khoya is formed,make a filling in chum chum.

7.Fruit Flavor for Chum Chum

For this first choose the furit essence you are going to use.Now while preparing paneer add this fruit essence.While the milk is boiling add this fruit essence drops in it.Then add lemon to get panner.This will make the fruit flavor spread all over the paneer.Then repeat the same steps followed in plain chum chum.Finally fruit flavored chum chum is ready.

8.Fruit Flavor Filled Chum chum

Decide whether sweet khoya or sweetless.Then choose the fruit flavor of khoya.For this, while boiling the milk add the fruit flavor in it.Then after khoya is formed,make a filling in chum chum.Finally Fruit Flavor Filling Chum chum is ready to taste.
