Dubai doesn’t have a dearth of exceptional buildings and while the Middle Eastern city boats of high-rise buildings and top-notch constructions, another one to be added to the list is the ‘Museum of the Future.’
The long-awaited museum is set to finally open to the public this month and that too with an iconic date—February 22 (22/02/2022.)
The museum’s opening has been long due and finally, the place will have a series of exhibitions, themed attractions and immersive theatre post its opening.
The torus-shaped and covered in Arabic calligraphy over the stainless-steel façade, the Museum of the Future, will be like an immersive film set from the future, with the building itself being both futuristic and symbolic.
According to the museum’s website, the symbolic form means, “The circular building represents humanity, the green mound it sits atop represents the earth; the void represents the unknown future.”
“The settings and scenes that we are crafting are immersive, but also expansive: they are designed to expand what the audience thinks possible - for the world, for the future and for themselves,” read the website.
Spanning an area of 30,000sqm, the seven-storey pillarless structure stands 77 metres high, the architectural marvel sits majestically on the Sheikh Zayed Road.
The museum, designed by Emirati artist Mattar bin Lahej, has quotes from Sheikh Mohammed about the future and legacy of the country and has over 14,000 metres of wisdom that are carved onto the structure. Among the quotes is— “The future belongs to those who can imagine it, design it, and execute it”, “The future does not wait... The future can be designed and built today.”
