    Indian Army orders nearly 1,500 Mahindra Scorpio Classic SUV. Anand Mahindra says Jai Hind

    According to some earlier reports, Scorpio variants for the Army were spotted undergoing road tests in 2021, which had bullet proof windows and firing ports for small arms. Mahindra had also pitched an Army specific variant of the Scorpio a few years ago, which was presented at Defence Expo.
    The Indian Army has reportedly ordered nearly 1,500 units of newly-launched Mahindra Scorpio Classic SUV. The announcement was shared by Mahindra Automotive on Twitter. As per the tweet, the Army has placed the order for its 12 units.

    Indian defence forces including Indian Army already use Scorpio and other Mahindra vehicles for both warfare and peacetime needs. The Army also uses the Tata Xenon and Sumo, Mahindra 550 jeep, Force Gurkha, Maruti Ciaz and Swift Dzire, besides some specialist light armoured vehicles for use in counter insurgency areas.

    Mahindra launched Scorpio Classic in August last year. The new SUV has got updated front view. This included changes to the headlamps, DRLs, foglights, front bumper and grille.

    The Scorpio Classic has 2.2 liter engine. The SUV is sold in two variants, namely S and S11. The two varients of Mahindra Scorpio Classic are priced at Rs 11.99 lakh and Rs 15.49 lakh, respectively.
