    BCCI President Sourav Ganguly tests positive for Covid-19, hospitalised in Kolkata

    The former India captain and BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) president Sourav Ganguly has tested positive for the Covid-19, according to a report.

    Ganguly, who is double vaccinated, has been admitted to a hospital in Kolkata after he tested positive for the virus on Monday night, the report further said on Tuesday.

    "BCCI President and former India captain Sourav Ganguly admitted to hospital after testing positive for Covid-19, say BCCI sources," news agency Press Trust of India reported.

    The BCCI chief's brother, Snehasish Ganguly, confirmed the news to Reuters saying that the former cricketer is "doing fine".

    "Sourav has got Covid but he is feeling fine," Reuters quoted Snehasish as saying on a telephonic conversation. His elder brother Snehasish had also tested positive for coronavirus early this year.

    On Monday night, the 49-year-old, who has been travelling extensively and also taking part in all professional activities, was rushed to a hospital as a precautionary measure after his RT-PCR test came positive.


    The former India captain is on medication and his health condition is currently stable.

    "He was taken to Woodlands Nursing Home last night. He has been given medication and is currently stable," PTI reported quoting a BCCI source, who is keeping track of Ganguly's health.

    Earlier this year, Ganguly was admitted to hospital twice and he also underwent emergency angioplasty after having some cardiac issues.

    India on Tuesday reported over 6,000 new Covid-19 cases, with the number of deaths rising by 293.
