‘Many Mani years together!’ Amul creative celebrates AR Rahman-Mani Ratnam collaboration over the years

Veteran film-maker Mani Ratnam’s epic action drama ‘Ponniyin Selvan:1’ continues to roar at the box-office worldwide. The film starring an ensemble cast of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Chiyaan Vikram, Trisha Krishnan, Jayam Ravi, and Karthi has shattered several box-office records.

Both audiences and critics have been heaping praise on the celluloid adaptation of the classic Tamil eponymous novel written by the late Kalki Krishnamurthy.

The film has collected over Rs 230 crore worldwide and is steadily growing. Academy Award winner AR Rahman who has scored the music for the magnum opus took to his social media accounts to share a creative by Amul celebrating the legendary collaboration of AR Rahman and Mani Ratnam. The duo has worked together for as many as 15 films.

The dairy brand which is known for its creatives celebrating the high points in pop culture shared a poster with caricatures of Rahman and Ratnam. While on the left side the duo is seen working on the masterpiece ‘Roja’ (1992) on the right side the duo, now visibly ageing, is seen working on the soundtrack of their latest hit ‘Ponniyin Selvan:1’. The caricatures are seen relishing Amul butter while busy working in the studio.

The creative poster has ‘Many mani years together!” written on the top, while ‘For Rahman and Mehman!” is written at the bottom. While sharing the poster on his social media handles, the 55-year-old composer wrote, “ahwww….sometimes I am vegan” with a smiley.
The singer-composer has created some timeless classics such as the soundtrack of ‘Roja’ his first collaboration with Ratnam. The notable films of the director-composer duo include, ‘Roja’, ‘Bombay’, ‘Iruvar’, ‘Dil Se..’, ‘Alaipayuthey (Saathiya)’, ‘Kannathil Muthamittal’, ‘Aaytha Ezhuthu (Yuva)’, ‘Guru’, ‘Raavanan (Raavan)’, ‘Kadal’, ‘O Kadhal Kanmani (OK Jaanu)’, ‘Kaatru Veliyidai’, etc.
This is Amul’s second creative dedicated to the epic historical drama helmed by Ratnam. On October 2, Amul shared its creative featuring the caricatures of Karthi, Trisha, Vikram and Aishwarya. “Get your Mani’s worth,” was written on the top, while at the bottom ‘Masterpiece’.
‘PS:1’ is seen as a game changer in the Tamil film industry. The film is one of the biggest openers in Tamil in recent times. It has cinematography by Ravi Varman, art by Thota Tharani and costumes designed by Eka Lakhani. The film has been appreciated for its background score, costumes, and stunning visuals. Critics have hailed the film as a faithful adaptation of a classic novel.
