Cham Cham Sweet Recipe

Cham cham is a traditional Bengali Sweet. It is prepared with freshly prepared chena (Home made Paneer). Few variations of the garnishings are to stuff with mawa/khoya or you can also just serve them with coconut garnish.

The recipe I am giving you here is from my mother’s Kitchen, I hope you would like it đŸ™‚

Let’s get started:

 

INGREDIENTS:

  1. Freshly made Chena (Home made paneer)
  2. Khoya ( Half Cup)
  3. Sugar ( As per taste)
  4. Semolina (Suji)
  5. Cardamom Powder
  6. Saffron color mixed in one tbsp milk (Optional)
  7. Tuti Fruity (For Garnishing)

PREPARATIONS:

Step 1:

Take Chena in a bowl (Quantity depends on number of Cham cham you want to make, Here I am using one bowl of Chena to make 12 pieces of Cham Cham)

Step 2:

Mix 3 tea spoon of semolina(Suji) and 1/4 cup sugar in it.

Mix it well until it becomes like soft dough.

It’s a bit tiring job, be patient here and if you want soft cham cham, do this process carefully, Softness of cham cham will depend directly on the way dough is been kneaded.

Step 2:

Make small cylindrical dumplings with the kneaded dough as shown in the picture below.

Step 3:

Repeat the same process with all the dough.

Step 4:

Take a container,add two cups water in it &  one bowl of sugar

Add half tea spoon of cardamom powder in it

Step 6:

Let the mixture boil on a high flame.

Once mixture boils, lower the flame

Step 7:

Add chhena dumplings to the container

Step 8:

After adding all the dumplings, cover the lid and cook it on a low medium flame.

Step 9:

After 15 minutes, turn off  the stove and let the container covered up with the lid

Keep the chhena dumplings inside it for one hour.

Step 10:

After one hour open the lid.

Step 11:

Take out dumplings in a bowl and pour sugar syrup  on it

Keep the bowl in refrigerator for one hour

Step 12:

Meanwhile heat a pan and add khoya in it along with 2 tbsp sugar.

Add saffron color mixed in milk in it(Optional).

Mix it well and keep it aside.

Now take out Cham cham from refrigerator after an hour.

Slit cham cham with a knife and fill Mava stuffing into it gently

Place tuti fruity on top it as toppings and serve.

Note: You Can also garnish cham cham with grated Coconut if you wish đŸ™‚
