Prerequisite:
- Wired or wireless computer, tablet or smartphone with a fully functional web browser (i.e. Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Chrome for Android, Dolphin, Android stock browser, etc.)
- Your DSL logins (Please contact your Internet Service Provider to obtain this important information).
Overview:
The D6000 is an AC750 DSL modem/wireless router. It's easy to setup/install using a wired computer or any WiFi Device with a fully functional Internet browser.
This article will provide a step-by-step instruction on how to setup/install the D6000 for DSL connection.
Symptoms:
- Unable to setup/install the D6000 for DSL Internet connection.
- ERROR: Please Check Whether DSL Cable/Ethernet Cable Is Plugged into the Router Internet Port.
Resolution:
- Install the ADSL microfilter between the phone line and the phone.
- Connect one end of the phone cable to the ADSL port on the microfilter and connect the other end to the ADSL (gray) port on the back of the D6000.
- Connect the power adapter to the modem router and plug it into an electrical outlet.
- Wait for the Power LED on the D6000 to turn solid green which indicates that its booted up.
- Connect a computer or a WiFi device to the D6000.
A. Via wired connection:
o To connect with WiFi, use the WiFi network name and password located on the product label. The product label is on the bottom of the D6000.
B. Via Wifi:
o To connect with WiFi, use the WiFi network name and password located on the product label. The product label is on the bottom of the D6000.
- Open a web browser and the NETGEAR GENIE will launch automatically. If you do not see the genie, you can manually enter http://routerlogin.com in the address bar.
- You will be prompted to type in a username and password. The default username is “admin” and the password is “password”.
- The NETGEAR GENIE smart setup wizard will prompt you if you need assistance in connecting to the Internet. Please select your Country and ISP from the dropdown boxes then select “Yes” and click the “Next” button.
- Please wait while the NETGEAR genie tries to detect your Internet connection type and settings.
- If the NETGEAR GENIE detects that your DSL connection requires a username and password, you will be prompted your credentials.
- Please enter your DSL account credentials when prompted.
Note: If you don’t have your DSL account credentials, please contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) to obtain them.
- Please wait while the NETGEAR genie saves and applies the settings.
- Once the DSL account information has been authenticated, a “Congratulations” page will appear. Click on the “Take me to the Internet” button to start browsing.
Note: You may also want to take note of the modem/wireless router’s current wireless settings.
