Plan India implements high quality programmes that create a lasting impact in the lives of vulnerable and excluded children and their communities through the following strategic objectives:

ADOLESCENT AND MATERNAL HEALTH, CHILD SURVIVAL AND OPTIMAL DEVELOPMENT: Plan India's health programme will work towards improving the health of mothers, children and adolescents by adopting a life cycle approach and promoting optimal growth and development of all children, especially girls. Objective:

Improved access to quality reproductive, maternal, child and adolescent health services that directly benefit 500,000 Under Six (U6) girls and 500,000 adolescent girls from vulnerable and excluded communities, along with 8,000,000 girls and young women indirectly benefited through influencing government policy and practice.


WATER, SANITATION AND HYGIENE The WASH domain of Plan India encompasses a number of initiatives including adopting community led approaches focusing on collaborative behaviours to drive change at school/Anganwadi Centres (AWC)/household level leading to an increase in the number of Open Defecation Free (ODF) villages/slums; and concerted efforts to ensure girls have access to WASH facilities at AWC/schools resulting in reduced absenteeism and dropout rates of girls. Improved access to water, sanitation and hygiene services that directly benefit 1,000,000 girls and young women from vulnerable and excluded communities along with 5,000,000 girls and young women indirectly benefited through influencing government policy and practice.

QUALITY AND HOLISTIC EDUCATION Our work in the education sector is focused on providing quality education (including Early Childhood Care and Education) to all children, particularly girls. This includes enhancing pedagogical skills of all teachers. Simultaneously, School Management Committees will be strengthened to support schools in delivering quality learning outcomes among children. As a result, all children would achieve age and grade appropriate learning outcomes with a higher rate of transition between critical grades.

Objective:


Promote quality education and learning for children in pre-primary to secondary levels in Early Childhood Care and Education/Anganwadi Centres and schools directly benefiting 1,000,000 girls; along with 5,000,000 girls indirectly benefited through influencing government policy and practice.

EMPLOYABILITY AND ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT Plan India's employability and economic empowerment initiatives aim to increase the income level of families through three-pronged approaches namely Community Managed Micro Finance (CMMF), Job Oriented Vocational Training (JOVT) and Vocational Training for Enterprise Promotion (VTEP) for youth, with special focus on young women. We will also influence key duty bearers to provide services to foster pre-vocational skills at educational institutions with alignment to the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF).

Objective:

Improved youth economic empowerment and financial inclusion that directly benefits 100,000 young women (18-24 years) along with 1,000,000 girls and young women indirectly benefited through influencing government policy and practice.

CHILD PROTECTION Plan India's work in child protection will aim towards strengthening the reporting and responding mechanism, which will be complemented by the participation of children, families, communities, government officials and other relevant stakeholders. This will contribute to reducing abuse/neglect/exploitation and violence against children, especially girls.


Objective:

Increased protection from abuse, neglect, exploitation and violence for 1,000,000 girls from vulnerable and excluded communities along with 10,000,000 girls indirectly benefited through influencing government policy and practice.

DISASTER RISK MANAGEMENT Plan India's Disaster Risk Management programmes aim to provide children and youth especially girls and their families with the knowledge and skills to adopt child centred Disaster Risk Management and Climate Change Adaptation (includes environment protection) practices and grow up safely in resilient communities.

Objective:

Build disaster resilient communities through comprehensive disaster risk/vulnerability reduction and humanitarian assistance benefitting at least 300,000 girls, young women and their families across 1,000 villages and urban slums along with 300,000 girls, young women and their families indirectly benefited through influencing government policy and practice.MAKE A DONATION
