In view of the upcoming festivities, Mahindra has launched the refreshed Xylo with prices starting at Rs 7.66 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). Updates on the new Xylo include minor mechanical tweaks, addition of a few creature comforts and subtle cosmetic revisions.

On the aesthetic front, there aren’t any major changes on the new car. However, discerning buyers will be able to differentiate it from the previous year models with the help of the new car’s reworked front and rear end with chrome garnish, new alloy wheels, decals on the exterior paintwork, and a new set of roof-rails.

Likewise, inside the car, there’s a new revised black-beige theme with redesigned upholstery; a Bluetooth-enabled double-DIN audio system with voice commands on the top-spec model, a new instrument cluster and steering-mounted audio and cruise controls. Among other features, a flexible 60:40 third row, electric ORVMs, front dual airbags, ABS with EBD and reverse parking sensors with digital display are also available.

Given the demand of these robust MPVs is usually high in rural areas of the country, Mahindra will be offering the refreshed Xylo in both BSIII and BSIV certified emission standards. The BSIII certified variants will be sold primarily in areas outside metro cities, whereas, the stricter BSIV variants will cater primarily to metros. The updated Xylo will be offered in a choice between two diesel engines, available in five different trims, namely- D2, D4, H4, H8 and H9.

At the entry-level range of the new updated Xylo, D2 and D4 trim models will offered with a 95PS producing 2.5-litre CRDe diesel engine in either BSIII or BSIV variant. The mid-level and higher-end variants – H4, H8 and H9, will only be available in BSIV certified variants. Power in these models will be sourced from the Scorpio-derived 2.2-litre mHAWK diesel engine that develops 120PS of power.

Festive offer

The mHawk engine will come mated to Mahindra’s newly developed 5MT320 five-speed manual gearbox. This same gearbox will also be available on the upcoming Mahindra Scorpio. Reportedly, Mahindra engineers have also tweaked the suspension of the Xylo for a more comfortable ride, improved agility and reduced body roll.

The refreshed Xylo is now available for sale across the country with prices for the BSIV variants of the car ranging between Rs 7.66 lakh to Rs 10.93 lakh; both the prices are for ex-showroom, New Delhi. Also, the BSIII versions of the new Xylo, available in tier-3 cities, are priced between Rs 7.52 lakh and Rs 8.14 lakh, ex-showroom, Gurgaon.
