The Union Cabinet, on June 7, 2023, approved the extension of the metro network from Huda City Centre to Cyber City in Gurgaon. The main corridor, from HUDA City Centre (Millenium City Centre) to Cyber City, will cover 26.65 kilometre (km) and have 26 stations, while the spur or extension would connect from Basai Village to Dwarka Expressway, a 1.85-km with one station, according to an official statement.
The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) will begin the construction work on the 28-kilometre (km) Gurgaon Metro from Huda City Centre within a month. Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced this on May 31, 2023 during a comprehensive review of development projects worth Rs 37,927 crore across the state, including several key initiatives in Gurgaon and Faridabad.
Khattar emphasised the transformative impact of development projects and said over Rs 2,000 crore has been earmarked for development endeavours in Gurgaon and Faridabad. He further asked officials to expedite construction work on ongoing projects and ensure continuous monitoring, according to a statement by the state government.
He also highlighted the accelerated progress of metro connectivity between Rezang La Chowk and Sector 21 in Dwarka, and the regional rapid rail links from Delhi to Behrore and Delhi to Panipat.
In February 2023, the chief minister had announced that work on the Gurgaon metro project would commence in this financial year, as it is expected to receive approval from the Union cabinet soon.
The Gurgaon Metro project had been delayed for nearly five years owing to successive changes in project plans.

Gurgaon Metro project construction details
The proposed Gurgaon Metro project will cover 28.5 km, comprising 27 elevated metro stations, with a section from Basai village to Dwarka Expressway. The project will be developed at an estimated Rs 5,452 crore.
The Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation Limited (HMRTC) is the implementing agency for the project, which is expected to be completed in four years from the date of sanction.
According to the tender document, the main metro line from Huda City Centre to CyberHub, passing through Subash Chowk, Hero Honda Chowk and Palam Vihar, will cover 26.65 km, while the section from Basai to Dwarka Expressway will be 1.85 km.
The Haryana government also proposed the construction of a metro link from Palam Vihar to Dwarka Sector 21, for facilitating connectivity between the proposed Gurgaon Metro and the Blue Line of the Delhi Metro in Dwarka.

It was decided that the company will appoint a full-time managing director after the model code of conduct is lifted. HMRTC floats tenders for geo-technical survey for Gurgaon Metro
June 7, 2023: The Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC) has opened tenders for a geo-technical survey of a 12.76-km section of the 28.6-km metro line. The project will extend the Metro rail line from Huda City Centre to Old Gurgaon and finally to CyberHub in a loop, connecting the entire city. The last day for submission of bids is June 30, 2023. Technical bids will be opened the same day at 5.30 PM, according to the notice issued by the HMRTC. According to the tender, the consultant will prepare a report summarising details of soil, rock classifications, analysis of test data and recommend the type of foundations to be adopted and design calculations for the proposed elevated corridor.
