Akhnoor keeps on appearing at the national newspapers and media houses debates over its Pakistani intrusions and attacks. But this is not all about the town identity. There is much more to this small town situated at the banks of Chenab river. No,I am no talking about Akhnoor fort or Akhnoor bridge or the tight security here! I am talking about intricately carved handmade Silver Jewelry from Jammu & Kashmir artisans.

A very few people mostly locals or army wives know about these beautifully carved sparkling silver jewelries from Akhnoor.

The reason is, these beautiful jewelries are found in small almost like little ramshackle kind of remote shops inside the hustling bustling Akhnoor market. Then there are only four or five little shops that sell it. The rumor is that these silver jewelries are smuggled from the Pakistan and so much so exclusive that you don’t even find them in Jammu which is just 28 km from there.
