- During puja, you should worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati if you are fasting. You should pray to Lord Ganesha and Kartikeya in addition to them. It will draw harmony and preserve love among family members. Your loved ones and children will lead happy lives.
- On Ahoi Ashtami if you are fasting, make sure you avoid doing any work involving dirt. Additionally, you should refrain from gardening during the day. It is said that these deeds bring misfortune to the children.
- It is recommended that you involve your children in the puja of Goddess Ahoi on this day. They have to be there along with you, doing their daily rituals. This will definitely help them to accumulate good fortune.

- Mothers should wear silver jewellery to draw prosperity and Ahoi Mata's blessings into their home.

- You must use copper or brass vessels to offer arghya to the stars and the moon. It is prohibited to offer arghya using steel vessels.
