The island

The island is almost rectangular, projecting a small peninzula to the southwest and irregular coasts to the north and west.

The diameter of the island is almost 4 km long and 1.5 km wide, with the longest axes to the east and west.

A sandy beach runs along three-quarters of the south side, around the flat, open southeast point, and across the east side, past the mouth of a small stream, ending up against a cliff, 12 meters high. height, of hardened sandy clay.

Similar boulders separated by small stretches of beach mark the coastline along the west and north.

The north side is broken by a small bay with a sandy beach at its head.

In the west, the sea has cut into the land, leaving several islets, some of them barren except for grass, moss and algae, and some with a crown of bushes and trees.

The wave action is constantly eroding the low cliffs, forming small caves and, in some cases, arches that pass over salient points towards the sea on the opposite side.

In this area there is a shallow sandbar that surrounds part of the island.

The land behind the southern beach are elevated enough above the high tide line to form a flat, lined with palm trees on the ocean side. Behind these lies a low forest in which the scattered trees rise from 15 to 20 meters in height. Towards the center the surface is lower and swampy, with two or three freshwater mangroves, discolored by the peat of the swamps, which drain into the sea.

There is another small group of mangroves at the mouth of the stream that enters the sea above the southeast point.
