Kamal Haasan — The toxic force.

What happens when Kamal Hassan writes and/or directs a movie? You are “treated” to more than two hours of the man’s incurable self-obsession. If you want to write a review of any movie he has written and/or directed just copy and paste the previous sentence.

From Hey Ram (Ram Ram!) to Dashavataram to Vishwaroopam. Hey, Ram had more Kamal Hassan than Gandhi while Dashavataram was a noxious cocktail of Kamal Hassan’s covert self-obsession multiplied by ten. Dasavatharam is an act of arrogance, a creation of conceit, a maverick’s attempt to tell the world that he is the greatest.

Closely listen to the lyrics of a song from Dasavatharam.

“வீர சைவர்கள்
முன்னால் எங்கள் வீர
வைணவம் தோற்காது”

“ராஜலெட்சுமி நாயகன்
ஸ்ரீனிவாசன் தான் ஸ்ரீனிவாசன்
சேய் இந்த விஷ்ணுதாசன் நான்”

Apparently Kamal’s parents are — Srinivasa Iyengar & Rajlakshmi.

They say that crisis brings out the best or the worst in people.

Let's look at two of the major crises he faced.

Defeat in 2021- Coimbatore south assembly election.

A dirty mud fight between Kamal Haasan — VP Dr.Mahendran followed days after the latter decided to leave the party with suggestions to Kamal Haasan. A bunch of MNM candidates resigned their primary membership from the party in the forthcoming days.

Dr. Mahendran accused Kamal Haasan of being a man who made up his mind to believe lies. He pointed out sycophancy within the party. Kamal Haasan replied by calling him a ‘traitor’ & ‘coward’.

Dr.Mahendran gave a series of interviews to various sections of media in the following days. Dr. Mahendran accused Kamal Haasan of deflecting the blame on his party lieutenants. Instead of accepting personal responsibility for failure and defeat, Kamal Haasan was clearly adamant in externalizing blame, attributing personal setbacks and failures to the shortcomings of others. It clearly shows Kamal Haasan is incapable of recognizing and acknowledging the failure could be his own.

As the saying goes “The cruelest lies are often told in silence”, it is pretty clear Kamal Haasan would be evasive of all accusations made against him.

Dr. Mahendran did the right thing by confronting Kamal Haasan. It takes courage to lock horns with a person who denies, deflects & plays the victim.

Toxic people are often genuinely surprised when there is a vocal disagreement, largely because they have become so accustomed to hearing voices of agreement. They are masterful at squeezing out dissenting voices. They fire, remove and ask second-in-line leaders to resign. It is universal for toxic leaders to surround themselves with voices that agree with them and silence those who do not.

Over time it resulted in a party in which most people were yes-men and sycophants in that way Kamal Hassan could maintain a distorted and almost delusional sense that everyone is in agreement with him.

Tamilnadu government bans Vishwaroop for hurting religious sentiments.

The following was his statement after the ban :

“I will find out in a few days if this is a secular country. I need a secular place to settle. If there’s no secular place in India I would go overseas. My passport will change.” — Kamal Haasan.

Pretty hilarious to say the least: “give me my toy or else!”

Kamal has missed the point. India is actually a secular country. This is why his film was banned and Islam-crazed goons ran amok even before the movie was released.

When Vishwaroopam hullabaloo came to a closure of sorts. Kamal Haasan agreed to edit offending portions of his film. After marathon discussions on February 2, it was announced that the film would be modified at seven instances by muting references to Tamil jihadis and Quranic prayers.

Look at how he ended it for all such valiant proclamations: by going down on his knees and agreeing to self-censor Vishwaroopam.

We don’t need to shed tears for this toxic force whose perverse politics and selective atheism earned him both fame and money.
