Common Name: Canadian Serviceberry, Shadblow Serviceberry
Amelanchier canadensis,goes by the common name shadblow serviceberry, is a deciduous,large multistem or single stem tree that is grown for it’s ornamental characteristics. The white flowers appear early spring before the finely jagged edges green leaves appear. Small green berries that turn red , then blackish purple in summer. Can be used for jellies and jams. They mature to 30’ by 20 feet in width. Prefers well drained soil but will thrive in clay soil. Grows best in partial shade.
