Description

No. 725,726. PATENTED APR. 21, 1903. w. F. LAUX. GATAMENIAL BANDAGE.
APPLICATION FILED JAN. 5, 1903.
110 MODEL.
I UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE WILl-IELM F. LAUX, O F READING, PENNSYLVANIA.
CATAM E N IAI. BAN DAG E.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 725,726, dated April 21, 1903. Application filed January 5. 1903. Serial No. 137,881. (No model.)
-To all whom it unity concern.
Be it known that I, WILHELM F. LAUX, a citizen of the United States, residing at Reading, in the county of Berks and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Catamenial Bandages; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make' and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements i catamenial bandages; and the object of the invention is to provide a sanitary device that will be light in weight and comfortable to the wearer.
The invention is fully described in the following specification and clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawing, which shows my device in perspective.
1 is a belt of any suitable material, provided with the usual buckle and adapted to surround the waist of the wearer. This belt has formed at its back awdepending V-shaped portion 2, with a button 5 on the outside thereof. At the front of the belt is another depending portion 3, also provided with one or more buttons 5; Thesack 4 is approximately tubular, seamless, is made of any suitable soft material, and is formed with a loop or endless strap 6 at either end, adapted to engage the buttons 5 on the depending portions 2 and 3. 'This sack is filled with dried sphagnum, which material is light in weight, highly absorbent, and a thorough disinfectant-and deodorizer. This sack will not become hardened or uncomfortable to the wearer, as the nature of the material with which it is filled is such that it will retainits normal condition.
Having thus fully described the invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A catamenial bandage comprising a belt 1 having a V-shaped depending portion 2 at the back, a'depending portion 3 at the front, buttons 5 on said depending portions 2 and 3 and an absorbent sack 4 consisting of a seamless tubular casing of soft material containing a filling of dried sphagn um, and straps or loops 6 secured to either end adapted to engage the buttons 5, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
