Google India aspires to achieve this goal of diversity and encourage women in engineering in a small way. Google has decided to offer a Google India Award that is applicable for eligible women students at the recognized Engineering Campuses in India.

The Google India Award is for participation in India only and shall only be construed and evaluated according to Indian law. Your application for this award constitutes your acceptance of these terms and conditions.

  1. Eligibility: You must be a legal resident of India, 18 years old or older. This Award is applicable to female applicants only. Applications submitted by students other than female engineering students will be rejected without review. Employees and agents of Google India Pvt. Ltd., its affiliates, subsidiaries, are not eligible to apply for this Award. Google shall have the exclusive right to accept or reject the applications and the decision of Google on the eligibility shall be final.
  1. How to Apply: The offer of this Award (“Award”) shall begin at 8 AM IST on December 1, 2007, and end at Midnight on January 31st, 2008 (“Application Period”) and shall be open to application only from select Technology Institutes and Colleges.
    1. Google will accept applications only from select Technology Institutes and colleges
    2. One application per candidate. The submission of an application is solely the responsibility of the Applicant. Submissions of applications via facsimiles and/or mechanical reproductions are not permitted and will not be considered. All applications become the property of Google, and none will be returned.
    3.   Applicants/Candidates must:
        (i)   Be enrolled as a full-time student in a recognized University.
        (ii)  Be in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical field majors.
        (iii) Maintain a cumulative CGPA of at least 4 on a 5.0 scale or 8 on a 10.0 scale or equivalent (percentage) in their current program.
        (iv) Be enrolled in the 2nd to final year students from a bachelor's program; all students from a master's or PhD program.
  1. Conduct: By submission of an application for the Award, the Applicants agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms and Conditions. Failure to comply with these Terms and Conditions may result in non consideration of the application for the Award offered by Google. The Applicants further agree to comply with and be bound by the decisions of Google, which will be final and binding in all respects. Google reserves the right at its sole discretion not to consider any application if it is found that an individual has (a) tampered or is attempting to tamper with the application process or the operation of the Award on any website; (b) violated the Terms and Conditions; (c) violated conditions and/or general rules or guidelines of any Google property. NOTE: ANY ATTEMPT BY ANY APPLICANT OR ANY OTHER INDIVIDUAL TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEBSITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE OFFER OF THE AWARD MAY BE A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS. SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, GOOGLE RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES FROM ANY SUCH PERSON TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

  2.  Grant of the Award and Notification: The Applicants selected for the grant of the Award/Scholarship will be selected from among all eligible applications by a Google Review Committee (“Committee”). The Committee will review all applications and determine the Applicant’s eligibility for the Award. The decision of the Committee is final. The successful Candidates/Applicants for the Award will be communicated on or about February 15, 2008, to the Candidate/Applicant via email, post or overnight courier. Return of any Award notification as undeliverable, or inability of Google to contact a potential Candidate/Applicant for the Award may result in disqualification and selection of an alternate candidate by the Committee.
  1. Award: The successful Candidate/Applicant shall be granted an award of INR 75000 via cheque.
  1. General Conditions: This Award is governed by the laws of India and the courts of Bangalore shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
    1.   By entering, candidates/applicants: (a) release and hold harmless Google, and their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, employees, and agents from any and all liability for any loss or damage of any kind to persons, from acceptance, possession, misuse or use of any award, or while traveling to, preparing for, or participating in any award related activity. (b) grant to Google the right to use abstracts or parts of the essay submitted and publish the same on the Google website or in print or any other media; and (c) grant to Google the right to use and publish their proper name and grant of the Award online and in print, or any other media, in connection with the Award/Scholarship. 

    2. Limitations of Liability: Google will assume no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, submission of applications. Google will not be responsible for any problems, failures or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers, providers, computer equipment, software, email, browsers, on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet, at any website, or on account of any combination of the foregoing. Google will not be responsible for any injury or damage to the applicants or to any computer related to or resulting from participating or downloading materials in the application process. If, for any reason, the submission process is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of Google which corrupts or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Award, Google reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend this offer of the Award and select successful candidates from among all eligible applications received prior to the cancellation.
  1. Representations and Warranties:
    The Candidate/Applicant warrants and represents in connection with the application submitted that: (a) the application consists of details and documentation, relating to qualifications, marks, certificates which are original, correct and true (b) the application does not contain any viruses, worms, Trojan horses or other harmful or destructive content. Without limiting any of those representations or warranties, Google has the right (though not the obligation) to, in Google's sole discretion, reject or remove from Google's websites, servers and computer systems any application that, in Google's reasonable opinion, violates these terms and conditions or any applicable Google policy or is in any way harmful or objectionable.

  2. Indemnity; Disclaimer of Warranties; Limitation of Liability
    The Applicant submitting an application for this Award agrees to be bound by these terms and conditions, including all eligibility requirements and all decisions of Google. The Applicant on submission of an application for this Award agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Google and its officers, directors, employees, agents, affiliates, subsidiaries, and parents ("Google Entities") from any and all liability, claims, or actions of any kind.

    THE APPLICANT AGREES THAT GOOGLE ENTITIES MAKE NO WARRANTY, REPRESENTATION, OR GUARANTEE OF ANY KIND, EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, IN FACT OR IN LAW, RELATING TO THE AWARD.

  3. Amendment; Waiver
    Google may amend these terms and conditions or cancel the Award at any time, in its sole discretion and without further notice, by posting to this web page an amended version of these terms and conditions. Google encourages you to regularly review these terms and conditions for any changes. By performing any act constituting submission of an application for this Award after a change of these terms and conditions, you will be deemed to have consented to that change. No waiver by a party of a breach of any provision of these terms and conditions or failure by a party to exercise any right under these terms and conditions will operate or be construed as a waiver of any subsequent breach of that right or as a waiver of any other right.

  4. Privacy: On submission of your application, you agree to Google’s use of your personal information and you agree that Google can use your name, location (city and state only), statements, photograph and essay for any advertising purposes without further compensation, consideration, review or consent.
