Product Prodigy

Product Engineering Conclave

In keeping with our larger objective of fostering product engineering, the finale centered around a conclave on Product Engineering, which brought together representation from industry, academia and the Venture Capitalist community on March 26, 2008. The conclave was divided into two sessions. In the first half, we engaged with some of the best students in the country (Product Prodigy Finalists, Google Campus Ambassadors, Google campus hires, Top Programmers) and exposed them to product demos, tech talks and interaction with the Engineering and Site Director, Google India R&D, Prasad Ram.

The second session focused more on industry interaction. Deep Nishar, Head of Product Management (APAC) delivered the keynote address on Innovation and Product Engineering. This was followed by the much anticipated panel discussion involving the following eminent personalities: Ashish Gupta – MD, Helion (VC and Entrepreneur); Sharad Sharma – CEO, Yahoo! India; Prof. Jayant Haritsa – Indian Institute of Science; C. Mohan – Chief Scientist, IBM India; Lalit Katragadda - Senior Engineer from Google Bangalore. The Panel discussion was ably monitored by Amit Somani, Senior Product Manager from Google.

The conclave signed off with the announcement of the three winners of Product Prodigy.

As a follow-up to the awards distribution, the first two winning teams were invited to Bangalore on Monday, May 5th to interact with few Venture Capital firms who had expressed interest in the award-winning Products. During the course of the day, the winners also interacted with senior engineers and evaluators from Google who provided them guidance and direction to take their respective products on to the next stage.

The winners agree that they have truly benefited from these engaging and inspiring interactions.
